Fukyugata SanDan

Here’s the problem when you record 31 Katas, they’re not all good takes. Some you try 5 or 6 times before you get it right. Fukyugata SanDan I did 5 or 6 times and thought I finally got it right. I get home, start looking at the video… Nope, I have 6 videos, all wrong. But the video was great in front of the fountain. The lighting was nice, a beautiful Florida afternoon and beautiful green grass. So instead of wasting the video with such a nice location, I thought I’d use it as a bonus video.

Believe or not, I started with the goal of 31 videos and thought that would be a challenge, I ended up with 40 videos. You will see most of them.

Kick Set 1

With a bonus video of Strike Set 2

Kicking is an important part of a martial artist’s arsenal for distance, power, and balance. But I felt there weren’t enough kicks, or variety of kicks, in the katas to work my legs sufficiently. So I did some research and found some kicking sets in others styles that I borrowed and tailored to my liking. I have 8 kick sets that I can work with now.

Here are the first two sets. Kick Set 1 was done on the streets of West Palm Beach, Florida.

The other Kick Set 2 I did 100 repetitions of for Warrior Week.

I’m not the best kicker but that’s why there is kata.

Never skip leg day !
